PointeStudents must be approved for this class. All Pointe students must take a
regular ballet class.
Modern is a classical form of dance that both Alvin Ailey and Martha Graham
pioneered. In this class, students will work to develop strength, control and
balance as well as interpretation. This program is intended for the dedicated
student who wishes to broaden her experiences in different forms of dance, but
can also be enjoyed by the student who just wishes to gain self esteem.
In this class students will learn the most popular style of dance today. We try
to incorporate some of the most popular music in class and some of the M-TV
dance moves, provided we feel that it is age appropriate. We also try to keep a
relaxed and fun-filled environment, while maintaining proper training.
Lyric is an interpretive style of dance, intended for our older students, who
will learn to portray the story or feeling of the song through body movements,
emotions and expression. This class must be taken in addition to a Ballet,
Modern or Jazz class.
The Irish Step Program has been a wonderful addition to our school and is
available for students ages 4 and up. Over the past years, we have had a
wonderful response to the program. The children had a wonderful time and the
parents were thrilled to have their children learn part of the Irish Heritage,
be it their own or not. We do hope that you will get as much enjoyment in the
This class is new to our program, and is intended for the serious student who
wishes to try competition. Students must take ballet in order to be eligible for
this program, and should strongly consider the “Excell Program” .
Kids Club & Dance Team
The Kids Club, Teen Club and Dance Team are designed for the students who enjoy
performing. Students learn a short 15 min. show during class, and perform at
different elderly facilities in the area. The performances will take place on
either Friday afternoons or Saturdays. No more than 4 performances will take
place. In the past, the performers, as well as the elderly viewers had a
wonderful time. This is a team effort and all who participate must be at all
classes and performances. Students will also perform one of these numbers in the
Spring Concert. Students must be enrolled in a regular program in order to
participate in either the Kids Club, Teen Club or Dance Team.
Boys Only Hip-Hop
"Boys Only" is an enthusiastic class for the boys who expresses an interest in
dance, but is concerned with being the only boy in a class of girls. We do our
best to maintain a "Guy Friendly" style of dance by incorporating some of the
latest pop songs and MTV artists. so boys, don't worry, there's no girly stuff
